  • Honey

Honey has antibacterial properties and may help fight bacterial infection. But make sure you don’t give honey to kids over 1 year only. Give it directly to them or mix it with warm water.   • Ginger drink

Cut ginger into small pieces and boil it in some water. Add honey to it and give it to your toddler. Ginger helps in easing throat inflammation. It will give instant relief in sore throat.

  • Salt water gargle

Salt has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties. Mix half teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and have your toddler gargle the solution. Make sure that your kid is spitting this solution. It will help a lot in sore throat.

  • Vicks VapoRub

Though this one doesn’t count as a home remedy for babies with cough but Vicks VapoRub has some amazing essential oils which can help in releasing congestion. Massage it on your baby’s chest at bedtime and cover them with blanket. This will help your baby get good sleep.

  • Use a humidifier

Dry air can worsen your baby’s cough symptoms. Make sure that you have a humidifier placed in their room beside their bed. This will make sure that your toddler is able to sleep peacefully throughout night.

Should you give medicine to your kid with cough?

Children under six shouldn’t be given any medicine without doctor’s consultation. You can give medications to kids above 6 years like a cough syrup.
