Strength Lies In Unity

Long time ago, there lived a flock of doves, which flew in search of food under the leadership of their king. One fine morning, they flew long distance and were eventually very tired. The Dove king urged them to fly a little further. The smallest Dove picked up pace and found some rice scattered beneath a banyan tree. So, all the Doves landed and began to eat.

The Doves were having a good time, when out of nowhere a net falls over them and all the Doves are trapped in it. They saw a hunter approaching towards them, with a huge club. All the Doves panicked and in desperation they started to flutter their wings in order to try and get out from the trap.

The king calmed his flock down and advised all the doves to fly up together carrying the net with them, each dove then picked up a portion of the net and together they flew off carrying the net with them. The hunter looked up in amazement. He tried to follow them, but they were flying high above the hills and valleys. They flew to a hill near a city of temples where a mouse that could help them lived. He was a faithful friend of the Dove king.

When the mouse heard the loud and familiar noise of their approach, he came out to visit his acquaintance. The dove king gently called out to him and the mouse was delighted to see him. The dove king explained that they had been caught in a trap and needed the mouse's help to nibble through the net with his teeth and set them free.

The mouse agreed to the king’s saying that he would set the king free first. However, the king insisted that the mouse should first free his pupils and later save him. The mouse understood the king's feelings and obliged to his wishes. He began to cut the net and one by one all the doves were set free, including the dove king.  They all thanked the mouse and flew away together.

We all have came across instances in our life where the proverb “United we stand” came along, but here the Doves altered the proverb in their own manner and changed it to “United we Fly”.
